This impressive Moldavite shows an exceptionally vivid green coloration, ranging from deep forest and olive green to luminous emerald green hues depending on the light. Especially under brighter illumination, the piece reveals its pronounced translucence and develops a fascinating inner depth. A notable feature is the highly textured surface. Numerous rounded, interlocking depressions and elevations give the Moldavite a distinctly plastic texture. Adjacent are glassy-looking areas with typical flow and fracture structures. When light comes from behind, these different structures become particularly evident, creating a lively interplay of bright, almost transparent areas and intensely saturated green zones. Moldavite belongs to the tektite group and formed about 15 million years ago as a result of the colossal meteorite impact that shaped the Ries Crater in southern Germany. The enormous energy released by the impact melted earthly rock material and was ejected over great distances. As the melt traveled through the atmosphere, it cooled and solidified into the characteristic green natural glass known today as Moldavite. This piece comes from the Czech Republic, the classic locality for Moldavite. In particular, specimens with strong green color, good translucency, and distinctly pronounced surface texture are especially sought after by collectors. Due to the limited source areas and finite natural supplies, high-quality Moldavite also holds a special position among tektites and collector minerals. Moldavite also enjoys an exceptional reputations metaphysically. It is traditionally regarded as a stone of profound change, expanded consciousness, and personal development. It is attributed with especially intense energy that is said to help dissolve entrenched patterns and open up new perspectives. A characterful natural Moldavite rough stone, particularly notable for its unusually plastic surface texture, intense green coloration, and striking effect when viewed against the light. In some of the images, the stone was backlit to show you the color of the stone. For some stones, we have held lighting under the stone to better showcase the color of the pieces. And color discrepancies may occur, as every computer, monitor, and smartphone may display colors with different qualities.
