Tutte le aste / Mobili, Design & Specchi / Naar Maurice Picaud - Relief

This auction features a gold bas-relief inspired by the iconic façade relief that has adorned the entrance of the world-famous Folies Bergère revue theatre in Paris since 1925. This impressive metre-tall Art Deco sculpture was designed by the renowned French architect and interior designer Maurice Picaud, also known as Pico (1900-1977). Picaud's masterpiece celebrates the essence of the Art Deco movement and captures the lush, exotic atmosphere of the Parisian nightlife in the 1920s. The artwork, titled 'Serpentine Dancer', depicts the famous dancer Lila Nikolska in her graceful movements. The abstract swirls and shapes surrounding her enhance the dynamics and energy of her dance, giving this work a timeless appeal. The Folies Bergère revue theatre, founded in 1869 as a music hall, enjoyed its heyday in the 1890s up to World War II. This iconic theatre is still in operation and has a rich history. The artwork offered in this auction is made after Maurice Picaud's original relief by Laurier Design atelier. The item is in excellent condition and will be carefully packed for shipping, including insurance against loss or damage during transport. Dimensions: 48 x 50 x 3 cm Material: porcelain gypsum with terracotta pigments Weight: 5 kilograms * In a separate Catawiki auction we also offer a Folies Bergère relief that points in the opposite direction. Bid in both auctions to secure this special and decorative Folies set. The last photo in this auction shows an impression of the complete set on the wall. When purchasing items from both auctions you pay shipping costs only once.
