1. Historical national flag of Thailand, with the distinctive five horizontal stripes in red, white, blue, white and red. The broad blue middle stripe stands for the monarchy, while red and white traditionally are associated with the nation and religion respectively. This design, known as the Trairanga (tricolor), was officially introduced in 1917 and has since remained the national flag of Thailand. The flag has been a recognizable national symbol for over a century. Dimensions 140x87 cm 2. Original naval ensign of the Union of Burma (Union of Burma), the official design used from 1948 to 1974. This flag was produced by Hannoversche Fahnenfabrik (Germany) and is supplied with the original NAUTEX-P factory label. The flag features sturdy flag fabric, a canvas hoist band with rope and a metal thimble, and is in nice worn condition. This flag was used from 1948 to 1974, the period in which Burma (the present-day Myanmar) was an independent state after British colonial rule. After independence the country faced political unrest and ethnic conflicts. In 1962 the army under General Ne Win seized power, but this flag remained in use until 1974. That year a new constitution was introduced and the country received a new national flag. This flag is thus a tangible piece of history from Burma’s early, independent period. Dimensions 120x72 cm
