MUGHAL STEEL DAGGER WITH SCABBARD

Ca. AD 1600 - 1800 A steel dagger with a broad, single-edged blade, gently recurved towards the pointed tip, with a shallow fuller extending along the spine and a pronounced notch at the heel. The hilt is fitted with a gilt metal ferrule and incised bands, terminating in a flared pommel. Accompanied by a shaped leather scabbard, embellished on the obverse with dense gilt filigree scrollwork divided into geometric panels and set with coloured glass cabochons arranged in floral clusters.
