Aurangzeb bore the honorific name “Alamgir” – World-Conqueror. Mughal Miniatures This precious painting represents members of the famous Imperial Dynasty, which ruled in India during the Islamic era in the 18th and 19th centuries. The hand-made painting was laid on an original manuscript. This seal confers these masterworks of Mughal art with priceless authenticity and significance. Mughal Miniatures are known for their fine blend of traditions and styles and for their ability to reveal more of the world of the great dynasty than the annals and the written history. These often king-commissioned works show images designed to meet the wishes of the patron while placing great emphasis on realism. The last Abbasid Caliph al-Mutawakkil III. (1508-1516, again 1517) was, after Egypt was conquered by the Ottoman Sultan Selim I and the Mameluke-Sultanate was removed, transferred from Cairo to Istanbul, where his trace and that of the entire dynasty disappears in the following years (by 1543 at the latest).
