Montiel-1985 - "ALTA MAR"

In the immensity of the ocean, where the horizon dissolves between water and sky, this vessel advances as a metaphor of human existence. It does not sail only on the waves; it also traverses the uncharted territories of memory, time, and fate. Its hull, marked by wear, speaks of accumulated voyages, storms overcome, and silences shared with the sea. The matter reveals the traces of experience, reminding us that every transformation leaves a mark and that every scar contains a story. The sea, represented as a living and changing force, symbolizes that which escapes our control: the cycles of nature, the movements of life, and the invisible currents that guide our steps. In the face of that immensity, the vessel becomes an act of resilience, an affirmation of the human will to go forward even when the course is not entirely visible. The moon suspended in the distance functions as a point of orientation and contemplation. It is the silent presence of the unknown, the faint light that accompanies those who traverse the night in search of meaning. Alta Mar is a reflection on the inner journey. An invitation to recognize that, just like this ship, we are all bodies in transit: built by our experiences, propelled by our dreams, and sustained by the hope of reaching new shorelines.
