A very decorative yet also functional microscope. It concerns a monocular microscope (one eyepiece) from the brand Kyowa, model KZ-1 with serial number 712152. This microscope dates from 1971. The microscope is 28 cm high, 9.5 cm wide and 14 cm deep. It weighs about 1.5 kg. With the case, the whole thing weighs about 2.5 kg. The case is 30 cm high, 13.5 cm wide and 17 cm deep. Kyowa Optical Co., Ltd. (founded in 1940 by Harukichi Ishii under the name Kyowa Optical and Precision Instruments Works) is a renowned Japanese manufacturer of optical instruments, best known for its microscopes. The headquarters of the parent organization are located in Sagamihara (Kanagawa, Japan). The microscope appears to be in very good condition. All movable parts rotate and move smoothly and stably. It also seems that all lenses are still present on the microscope, and in good condition. Very nice is the presence of a sturdy case. There are also three microscope slides, an extra eyepiece and a screw to fix the microscope to a tabletop (see photos). Furthermore, the original injection certificate is attached to the inside of the case door, stating that the microscope complies with the specified requirements (JIS B No. 7134). Also included is the buyer’s warranty certificate from the Netherlands (see photo). In the case there is a space where two eyepieces can be slid in (see photo). The microscope will be carefully packed and insured for shipment.
