Mixed Messages - Newel Hunter

Mixed Messages by Newel Hunter Painting 11.0 x 14.0 :: For those who want a sample of Hunter’s dynamic B & W work here’s one that no one can ignore. Mixed Messages consists of bold dynamic brushstrokes in shades of black and white against a stark white background. The thick application of paint creates a textured almost sculptural effect with the strokes layered and interwoven to produce a sense of movement and energy. The contrast between the dark and light areas is striking emphasizing the fluidity and spontaneity of the brushwork. The composition is abstract and open to interpretation inviting the viewer to explore the emotional resonance of the forms rather than focusing on a narrative or figurative element. The use of monochrome here focuses attention on the raw gestures and the interplay of light and shadow across the textured surface. The spontaneity and freedom in Hunter’s application of paint convey strong emotion and immediacy which gives the piece a compelling presence. This confident approach to abstraction draws the viewer into a visceral and intimate experience of the artwork. Mixed Messages is painted with acrylic on an 11 x 14 x .2-inch canvas panel ready to frame. It comes carefully packaged and shipped in a heavy-duty cardboard box.
