Minton by Ellen Welby (1851-1936) Earthenware Aesthetic Movement Portrait Bowl

Hand-painted by the artist Ellen Welby, the central well features a profile portrait of a woman wearing a laurel wreath, set against a turquoise blue ground. The wide cobalt blue rim is intricately decorated with multiple winged cherubs. At the top, cherubs hold a central heraldic shield, while others are entwined with green foliate garlands tied with pink ribbons. A central cherub at the base is flanked by two stylized dolphins. The reverse bears E. Welby 1884 in black handwritten ink. Provenance sticker from Winter's Art Exhibition in Derby, 1885. Dimensions: 16.5"W x 3.25"H Condition Request Condition Report Good
