Distant Weather MiLo (1976), Netherlands Distant Weather is a large abstract work built around the contrast between a deep black lower field and a layered, atmospheric upper section in off-white, grey and muted earthy tones. Broad horizontal gestures create the suggestion of a distant horizon, while visible brushwork, subtle scratches and overlapping washes give the lighter field movement and depth. The stark dark area below anchors the composition, creating a balance between weight and openness, stillness and movement. Minimal in its construction yet highly atmospheric, the work can evoke a landscape, changing weather or simply the tension between two contrasting fields of colour. Its restrained palette makes it particularly suited to contemporary and minimalist interiors. About the artist MiLo is a Dutch contemporary artist whose work combines abstraction, graphic simplicity and expressive mark-making. His paintings are held in private collections throughout Europe and beyond, including the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, Taiwan and the United States. Each work is created as an original, one-of-a-kind piece in his Amsterdam studio.
