PERSIA. 50 Dinar. 1318 AH (1900). Mozaffar ad-Din Shah (1896-1907) - Value: 50 Dinar. - Reign: Mozaffar ad-Din Shah (1896-1907). - Year: 1318 AH (1900). - Inscriptions: Obverse: رایج مملکت ایران · ۵۰ دینار. Reverse: ١٣١٨. - Grade: MS64 (NGC). Coin of 50 Dinar corresponding to the reign of Mozaffar ad-Din Shah, with a design characteristic of the Qajar dynasty. The obverse features the Persian inscription with the denomination of 50 Dinar inside a beaded circle, crowned and surrounded by a vegetal crown; the reverse shows the traditional Persian emblem of the lion passant wielding a sword before the radiant sun, also framed by branches and topped by the royal crown. The piece retains sharp and well-defined reliefs, especially in the lion, the sun’s rays and the vegetal elements, with fields of clean appearance and a uniformly slightly golden metallic tone. Its grade MS64 (NGC) reflects a non-circulating specimen with good striking quality and scarce marks. The motif of the lion and the sun was one of the main symbols of Persia during the Qajar period and constitutes the central iconographic element of this issue.
