Microscope - Zeiss Ikon AG

Old German Zeiss Ikon medical colorimeter, model D, following the Crecelius-Seifert method, probably dating from the 1940s–1950s. This precision scientific instrument was used in medical laboratories and pharmacies to determine blood glucose levels before the advent of modern electronic devices. Its operation relies on the visual comparison of the color of a chemically treated blood sample with a colored reference disk, allowing the sugar concentration to be determined. Made by Zeiss Ikon AG, Goerzwerk Berlin, it features a black metal frame, a vertical optical tube, a mechanical adjustment system, and an ivory-colored circular base. It is accompanied by its black storage case and original documentation bearing the inscription “Blutzucker-Kolorimeter nach Crecelius-Seifert.” A fine scientific and medical collectible instrument, representative of the evolution of blood analysis techniques in the 20th century. Shows signs of use and a patina related to its age. Overall condition as shown in the photographs. Highly sought after in the world of industrial design, scientific curiosities, vintage medical technology, laboratory optics, steampunk, and rare measuring instruments. Ideal for collectors, industrial loft décor, cabinet of curiosities, scientific display cases (theodolite, microscope, sextant, compass).
