Mexico 1856 "Hidalgos" Issue

Mexico 1856 "Hidalgos" Issue Mexico District. 4r. Red, mainly attractive margins, slightly cut into the design at the top right corner, tied by c.d.s. on a registered cover front from Mexico City to Lagos, carrying lottery tickets intended for sale in that small destination town, dated 9th November 1856 and paying the single rate. A very scarce example of registered mail, as the front (signed by the addressee to confirm receipt) was required to be destroyed by the post office after two years. Scott 4.
