Merlini - Statue, Madonna met Kind - 51 cm - Painted, Plaster

Atmospheric and characterful vintage plaster statue of Mary with the Child Jesus. This model (V17) was designed by the artist Andrea Merlini and produced in a Belgian plaster workshop around the 1950s (Mid-Century). The statue stands out for the beautiful color combination of a deep blue cloak with gold-colored details and the recognizable flowing, almost stylized Art Deco lines. Maker/Designer: Andrea Merlini Model number: V17 (marked on the back of the pedestal) Country of origin: Belgium Period: Approx. 1950–1959 Material: Polychrome painted plaster (chalkware) The statue is in a beautiful, authentic vintage condition. There is some light, age-related wear to the paint (small plaster spots visible at the edges and bottom), which contributes to the vintage look. No major cracks or restorations. See the photos for an accurate view of the condition.
