Mercedes-Benz - 220S - one owner - 1965

GENERAL: The Mercedes-Benz 220S (W111), affectionately known as "Fintail" or "Heckflosse", is one of the most iconic and revolutionary sedans of German engineering in the 1960s. Designed by Paul Bracq, this model historically stood out for being one of the first production vehicles to incorporate crumple zones designed to absorb impacts, a pioneering safety advance developed by Béla Barényi. This particular example has the peculiarity of having had a single owner throughout its life and records 21,000 kilometers on the odometer. Recently it has been restored and started up, with a full repaint and upholstery completely new that respects the original materials and configuration. The car preserves an exceptional documented history by its original owner in a handwritten notebook where journeys, refuels and maintenance were noted, which is provided together with a map of the routes traveled. CARROCERÍA Y PINTURA: Body and paint: The vehicle was completely repainted two months ago, so it presents no defects, scratches or nicks typical of use. The work was done in a workshop not specialized in classics, so the paint is correct although its finishes are not dazzling. The chrome elements are the car’s originals; some look a bit more matte while others retain a good shine. The undersides were freed of all rust during the painting process and are in very good condition. All door seals, the windshield, and the rear window gaskets have been replaced with new ones. MECÁNICA: A tune-up and in-depth inspection of both the engine and the gearbox have just been performed. The entire mechanical assembly functions correctly and the transmission shifts smoothly. INTERIOR: The cabin is in good condition and the upholstery is completely new. The wooden trim on the dashboard under the windshield was recently varnished, while the central dashboard woods remain original and show some loss of shine. DOCUMENTACIÓN: The original handwritten notebook of the owner with the historical record of trips and maintenance is included.
