Rare handmade silver Jewish Mezuzah Case. Entirely unusually beautiful in form and very detailed, handmade. It is surrounded by a stunning openwork carved decor, magnificent floral decorations and various cable borders. Also at the top and bottom provided with a worked crown of which one is removable (see photos) Also the Mezuzah Case is equipped with an unengraved cartouche where a name can be engraved (rare, as almost all cartouches bear initials or name engravings) The Mezuzah Case is stamped and marked with a silver hallmark indicating 925 pure silver content (1st grade silver) It is quite a large piece with a length of 17.00 cm and the width of the crowns is 3.2 cm. The holder weighs 58.5 grams (not filled or weighted, so net silver weight) The piece is in very good condition (slightly inconspicuous faint dent in the crown) This splendid rare handmade silver Mezuzah Case, due to its beautiful form, its detailed work and the wonderful openwork carved decor, is a striking and particularly decorative object.
