Ca. AD 700 - 900. A gold ring with a broad flat-section hoop expanding into ornamented spaulders decorated with scrolling foliate motifs and bordered by narrow punched bands. The rectangular bezel is set with a large agate cabochon secured in a raised box setting. Size: D:17.12mm / US: 6 3/4 / UK: N; Weight: 5.4g Provenance: Property of a West London gentleman; previously in a collection formed on the UK/International art market in the 1990s.
