Medieval Bronze cross. In excellent condition. (No reserve price)

A unique medieval bronze cross. Early Medieval Period 1100-1400 AD. An equilateral cross with arms that widen towards the ends, terminating in small, rounded bead-like bosses. Obverse (front side): A relief symbol—a cross within a rhombus (a so-called "saltire" or "St. Andrew's cross" inscribed in a square)—is located in the center of the square. This motif symbolizes the four Evangelists or the concept of the cross as the foundation of the world. Traces of a stylized ornament are visible on the arms of the cross. Reverse (back side): A central relief image is clearly visible; it also takes the form of a rhombus with a cross inside and is symmetrical to the design on the obverse. The cross is completely authentic. The patina remains undisturbed, serving as a mark of authenticity and preserving the item's historical value. There is a slight, age-related deformation of the suspension loop (see photos). Signs of long-term use and superficial micro-scratches are present but do not detract from the overall appearance of the artifact. The metal is strong.Signs of wear consistent with age and use. Wearable. 100% original. The cross comes with a jewelry cord. Look at many photos for your own impression.100% original. Material: Bronze. Size : 28 x 19 mm. Weight: 1.83 grams. The item was purchased in 2015 in Barcelona, Spain from G.A. as part of a private Spanish collection dating back to the 1980s.
