MATARASSO (Jacques). — The Jacques Matarasso Library. Part T - Lot 172

MATARASSO (Jacques). — The Jacques Matarasso Library. Part Two. Modern Illustrated Books, First Editions, Magazines, and Documents. Paris, Loudmer, 1994. A quarto-sized volume, in the publisher’s cardboard binding covered with corrugated paper, with covers adorned with large multicolored typographic labels. Catalog of the second sale of the Jacques Matarasso Library, held at the Hôtel Drouot on April 28, 1994, organized by Loudmer, with Bernard Loliée serving as expert. This significant collection included modern illustrated books, first editions, avant-garde journals, and documents relating to the literary and artistic history of the 20th century. The catalog includes numerous detailed bibliographic entries, accompanied by reproductions, devoted in particular to the works of Alfred Jarry, books illustrated by Pierre Bonnard, and avant-garde publications. Of particular note are several exceptional items related to Alfred Jarry, including an autograph letter addressed to the engraver Maurice Delcourt, a rare pre-first edition of *Ubu Roi*, and the *Répertoire des Pantins* series. A valuable reference catalog for the history of modern bibliophilia and avant-garde books, attesting to the richness of the library assembled by Jacques Matarasso. A fine copy, in its characteristic decorated cardboard binding.
