Mask - Bamoun - Cameroon (No reserve price)

Senoufo Kpeliye mask from Ivory Coast in aluminum In the Senoufo culture of Ivory Coast, the traditional Kpeliye mask embodies a spiritual beauty more than a human face. Sculpted with stretched elegance, marked by fine horns and sometimes topped by a tutelary bird, it appears during the Poro ceremonies, the initiatory society that structures the transmission of knowledge. In the dance, the mask celebrates the feminine ideal, but also mediation between the living and the ancestors.
