Martinelli Luce - Emiliana Martinelli - Hanging lamp - GAIA - Metal

The Gaia pendant lamp from Martinelli Luce, designed by Emiliana Martinelli, is a remarkable light object in which form, rhythm and transparency come together in an elegant way. The design is characterized by a series of slender, curved slats that collectively form a light, almost organic shade. This creates a sculptural appearance that from every viewing angle reveals a different character. The open construction ensures that the light is not only spread downward but also subtly exits outward between the slats. This results in a lively play of light and shadow on the surrounding walls and ceilings, making the lamp not only illuminate but also a mood-setting element within the space. Despite its generous form, Gaia looks surprisingly light and transparent. The carefully built structure gives the design an architectural quality, while the soft curves contribute to a friendly and inviting appearance. The result is a lamp that effortlessly balances technical precision with natural elegance. As is often the case in Martinelli Luce designs, Gaia also centers on the interaction between light and form. Both when lit and unlit the lamp retains its decorative value and forms a striking object above a dining table, in a living room, or within a representative reception area.
