Marten Toonder Studio's - 1 Original drawing - Tom Poes...

Explanation: in cel animation technique, the maker draws the moving parts of the animation on transparent sheets, or "cels". 24 cels are needed for one second of animation. The advantage is that fewer drawings are needed, because the cels can be reused for the same movement. At the beginning of the last century cel animation was invented in America. Animated films became a market product thanks to Walt Disney and had to be produced quickly. To save time, the technique was devised in which moving parts and non-moving parts of the drawing can be separated from each other. The animation is first drawn in pencil (line drawing) and then placed on a clear transparent sheet (cel). Thanks to the transparency, multiple layers can be worked on top of each other. On December 1, 2010, the cultural heritage of Marten Toonder (all the work that Marten Toonder himself made) was officially transferred by the heirs to the Letterkundig Museum Leiden and has since been the property of the Dutch State. In November 2018, the archive of the Marten Toonder Studios was donated to the Literatuurmuseum in The Hague and the Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam. See the last photo. Due to the developments above, the chance is excluded that original works by Marten Toonder himself and Marten Toonder Studios will be offered on the market from this estate. Outsize (Buitenmaat) paper; 30 x 25 cm. Lot: beautiful, original pencil/line drawing of Kruidenier Grootgrut. This drawing (preserved, because a lot of material was destroyed at the time) was made by Marten Toonder Studios and used for the film "Als je begrijpt wat ik bedoel". A wonderful piece of animation art. This drawing will be sent to the new owner in maximum protected packaging.
