Marten De Vos (1532-1603), Circle of - Heilige Familie met de Heilige

An unusually remarkable and highly detailed oil painting on oak panel, depicting a "Sacra Conversazione" (Holy Conversation). Created by the Antwerp School, circa 1580-1600, in the direct style and tradition of the prominent Flemish master Marten de Vos (1532–1603). Iconography: The composition shows the Virgin Mary with the Christ Child, surrounded by a heavenly court. On the right are Saint Catherine of Alexandria and Saint Barbara, together with crowned angels who present meticulously detailed floral garlands. The scene is rich in Northern Renaissance symbolism and combines the courtly elegance of late Mannerism with a serene, devout atmosphere. Artistic Quality: This artwork attests to the high level of the Antwerp Guild of Saint Luke around 1580-1600. The rendering of the dynamic, heavy draperies in deep red, blue and gold is executed with great craftsmanship. Particular attention has been paid to the refined depiction of flesh tones (skin), the serene facial expressions and the miniature-like precision of the botanical elements. Condition: The painting is in good condition, moderately to reasonably, with areas of paint buildup. small losses of paint, stable state inherent to an original artwork of over 400 years old. • The work is executed on oak panel. The back is provided with a professional wooden cradle (cradling / parquet). This stabilizes the wooden boards, prevents warping and ensures a solid, healthy structure. On the front there are light, historical drying lines visible along the wood grain, which is completely normal for panels from this period. There are a few tiny, stable paint lifts (paint lifts) and small chips at the outer edges of the panel. The surface shows old, historical restorations (retouches) that have been expertly carried out in the past. See photos. Dimensions: 75.5 cm x 66.5 cm
