Mario Guadagnino (1934) - Venezia - San Jorge Matando al Dragón

Engraving by Mario Guadagnino from the 1960s. Signed and Limited edition, piece 64/70 Accompanied by a text that accompanies the work by Enrico Buda The artist attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, his hometown, where he studied painting with Guido Cadorin and engraving with Cesco Magnolato. Until the year 2000, he held the chair of engraving at the same Academy. He was a member of the Venetian Engravers Association and served on its Board of Directors for a long time, until its dissolution in 2012. His artistic career began in 1956, while still a student, with his participation in group exhibitions of young Venetian artists at the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation, Venice (1963-64-65-66). From 1957 to 1968, he also participated in the engraving biennials (II, III, IV, V, VI and VII) organized by the Venetian Engravers Association for the city of Venice. Winner of the Biella International Engraving Prize in 1996, he has taken part in the most important engraving exhibitions in Italy and abroad, among which we will mention only a few in the “Exhibitions” section. His work has been included in the catalogs of: II Biennale of Contemporary Italian Engraving, Campobasso 2002; III Exhibition “L'Arte e il Torchio”, Cremona 2003; II Biennial of Engraving “G. Polanschi”, Cavaion Veronese 2003; Santa Croce Grafica Santa Croce sull'Arno Award 2003. In 2003 he held a solo exhibition at the Ravenna Festival and participated in group exhibitions in Monsummano Terme (Pistoia) and S. Donato M.se (Milan). He has been included in the Italian Engravers repertoire of old and modern engravings by Bagnacavallo since 1993. He organized several educational exhibitions, both with works by his students and with unreleased material illustrating the various engraving techniques: • 1977 Bevilacqua La Masa Gallery (Vito Orcalli Prize), Venice; • 1978 Roncali Palace (Vito Orcalli Prize), Rovigo; • 1985 Academy of Fine Arts Aula Magna: “Homage to A. Magnolato”, Venice; • 1985 Exchange Exhibition Borgholm of Öland – Bevilacqua La Masa Gallery, Sweden – Venice; • 1985 Bevilacqua La Masa Gallery “Engraving School of the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice 1978-1985”, Venice; • 1985 Il Bisonte Graphic Art Gallery, Florence; • 1986 Multifunctional Cultural Center, Bagnacavallo; • 1987 Municipal Art Gallery Palazzo del Ridotto, Cesena; • 1990 Santa Maria delle Grazie Cultural Center, Mestre; • 1993 Higher School of Art of Valdagno and Municipal Cultural Center G. Marzotto, Valdagno; His works are in public and private collections, including: the Print Collection of the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice, Venice; Bevilacqua La Masa Works, Venice; Ca' Pesaro Modern Art Gallery, Venice; Old and Modern Engraving Cabinet, Bagnacavallo; Engraving Cabinet, Gaiarine; Engraving Cabinet, Campobasso; Civic Museum Engraving Cabinet, Bassano; Engraving and Drawing Cabinet, Santa Croce sull'Arno; Engraving and Drawing Cabinet, Pinacoteca “A.
