Marie Laurencin - Lettre autographe signée à son ami...

Autographed letter signed by Marie Laurencin (1883-1956), painter and poet, addressed to her old friend (and lover) Francis Picabia, on the letterhead of her home-studio at 1, Rue Savorgnan-de-Brazza (Paris VIIe), with the telephone exchange marked “Invalides” and dated 1953, the year of Picabia’s death. Intimate text recalling the Jouhandeau — close to Laurencin after the war — and announcing an appointment (date of the letter between 1946 and 1953, the year of Picabia’s death). « On m'a apporté tes mouchoirs. J'attendais un coup de téléphone pour vous dire que les Jouhandeau viennent demain, ravis de vous voir, et Otto. Nous serons vers huit heures un quart. (signé) VOTRE MARIE INTIME. » This letter brings together two major figures of the Parisian avant-garde — Laurencin, muse of Apollinaire and painter of the Bateau-Lavoir, and Picabia.
