Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939) is one of the indisputable masters of Art Nouveau and a foundational figure in the history of decorative modern art. His instantly recognizable style, characterized by elegant female figures, flowing lines, ornamental halos and rich botanical motifs, has become synonymous with fin-de-siècle Paris and the rise of graphic art as a collectible discipline. Mucha's works enjoy enduring international demand, with high prices for posters, lithographs and decorative panels, appealing equally to enthusiasts of visual arts, design fans and interior stylists. From a market and collecting perspective, Mucha sits alongside other highly sought-after names from modern and decorative art, such as Gustav Klimt, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Egon Schiele and Aubrey Beardsley, while he also resonates with collectors of broader modern and contemporary icons such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Keith Haring, Banksy and Jeff Koons.
