Condition: the work is in excellent condition. Alphonse Mucha (1860-1939) is one of the indisputable masters of Art Nouveau and a fundamental figure in the history of decorative modern art. His instantly recognizable style, characterized by elegant female figures, flowing lines, ornamental halos and rich botanical motifs, has become synonymous with fin-de-siècle Paris and the rise of graphic art as a collected discipline. The original artwork is "Salammbô" (also known as "Incantation") from 1897, a famous Art Nouveau lithograph by the Czech artist Alphonse Mucha. The subject is an illustration based on the eponymous historical novel by Gustave Flaubert, set in ancient Carthage. It shows a priestess advising the title heroine Salammbô during a ritual, marked by Mucha’s typical stylized forms and decorative details. Mucha’s works enjoy lasting international demand, with high prices for posters, lithographs and decorative panels, equally appealing to fine art lovers, design enthusiasts and interior stylists. From market and collection perspectives, Mucha sits alongside other highly sought-after names from modern and decorative art, such as Gustav Klimt, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Egon Schiele and Aubrey Beardsley, while also resonating with collectors of broader modern and contemporary icons such as Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Keith Haring, Banksy and Jeff Koons. His work frequently appears in searches related to Art Nouveau interiors, vintage posters, luxury décor, Belle Époque aesthetics, history of graphic design and collectible prints.
