Condition: Very good condition: the paint layer fresh and intact, with its full original impasto and no retouching; a single fleck of surface dirt in the sky; the canvas taut and unlined on its original keyed stretcher, with the Rouen colourman’s stamp and the artist’s title inscription on the reverse; light rubbing to the frame. A striped curtain frames the view. The flowering balcony above the sea is a subject Marcel Cramoysan (1915–2007) painted on the Norman and Mediterranean coasts alike, combining the two things he loved most — flowers and the light over water. The canvas carries the stamp of the Paris colourman L’Atelier des Arts and is titled and signed by the artist on the reverse. Signed ‘Cramoysan’ at the lower right.
