This select lot comprises one bottle of Mac-Talla Terra and one bottle of Mac-Talla Mara. Both belong to the Mac-Talla range from Morrison Scotch Whisky Distillers (a family with a deep-rooted Islay heritage). These are undisclosed Islay-style single malts, non-chill filtered, and naturally colored. The bottles are standard size (70 cl), with original labels intact, excellent fill levels, and impeccable condition – perfect for Islay collectors, comparative tastings, or expanding a premium inventory with a contrast of land vs. sea. Star Item 1: Mac-Talla Terra Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky. This expression embodies the land (“Terra”) of Islay: matured primarily in bourbon casks with toasted oak and gentle peat influences. It boasts a more earthy and malty profile than its maritime counterparts. • Profile: A nose of toasted cereal, damp earth, gentle peat smoke, sweet malt, hints of nuts and dried herbs; a balanced and rounded palate with smoky barley, caramel, toasted oak, soft spices, and a medium-long finish with earthy notes and malty sweetness. Creamy and warm texture. • Style: Earthy, malty, and comforting – ideal for sipping neat or with a few drops of water to highlight its island character. Star Piece 2: Mac-Talla Mara Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky. A cask strength that captures the wild sea of Islay (“Mara” = sea in Gaelic), matured in ex-bourbon American oak to highlight freshness and clean smoke. • Profile: A nose of campfire smoke, salted lemons, caraway, toasted teacakes, seaweed briny, and hints of smoked meat; On the palate, it's oily and full with dry smoke, subtle tar, sour lemon, marzipan, black pepper, and a long finish with strong peat, salt, and balanced sweetness. A creamy and vibrant texture with integrated warmth. • Style: Powerful yet balanced maritime peated – perfect for sipping neat (with water to open up layers) or on the rocks. This duo offers a fascinating contrast: the earthy, malty, and comforting Terra versus the maritime, smoky, and bold Mara.
