Luxurious Vintage Emerald Ring with Diamonds in White Gold, c. 1980

Among the three major colored gemstones—ruby, sapphire, and emerald—the emerald holds a special place. Its unmistakable green evokes images of tropical forests, lush vegetation, and mysterious landscapes. For centuries, some of the most famous and sought-after emeralds have come from deposits in Colombia, where the stones are prized for their intense green colour. This elegant ring, dating from around 1980, features a brilliant emerald set in an entourage of white diamonds. The gemstone weighs approximately 0.80 ct and is cut in the classic “emerald cut.” The rectangular step cut, with its large central table, beautifully highlights the stone’s colour and depth. Held in place only by small prongs, the emerald appears to almost float within the flower-shaped ring face. White diamonds in brilliant and baguette cuts, with a total weight of approximately 0.84 ct, unfold around the emerald, creating a lively play of light.
