Luxurious Sapphire and Diamond Cluster Ring in White Gold, c. 1970

Sapphires do not always have to be blue. Like rubies, sapphires belong to the corundum family, the mineral that can shine in all colors. In gemstone science, any corundum that is not ruby red is considered a sapphire. In addition to the famous blue varieties, there are also yellow, green, violet or orange sapphires, which surprise and enchant with their subtle play of colors. A sapphire of around 3.81 carats sparkles in this ring, its mysterious petrol shade reminiscent of the color of a glacial lake. Grouped around it are fourteen brilliant-cut diamonds of very good color and purity, together weighing around 1.40 carats, which play around the glow of the center stone with bright fire. The gemstones are set in fine white gold, which emphasizes the brilliance of the stones without taking the attention away from them. The ring is designed as a classic entourage ring, in which a central gemstone is surrounded by a ring of diamonds - a shape that has been varied again and again for centuries. The fine prongs hold the stones securely in place, while a delicate undercut lifts them slightly above the finger so that the light falls unhindered into all facets. The narrow ring band is kept simple. The ring, which came to us from Lake Constance, is in excellent condition. A luxurious piece with character that combines the calm of water and the fire of gemstones.
