This bracelet is a piece of jewellery from the golden age of black and white cinema, monochromatic and glamorous like the classic films of the era. It bears comparison with the jewels worn by the great film divas such as Marlene Dietrich and Mae West – jewels so exquisite that the high-earning actresses preferred to wear their own pieces in film roles. "With this kind of income, I was even paying for my own jewels - sometimes," wrote West, who was notorious for her tongue-in-cheek punchlines, in her autobiography. The exquisite design of the bracelet shows the importance of this type of jewellery in the years around 1930, when the ideal evening dress showcased bare arms and the shoulders were at best covered by a fur stole. It is designed as a simple, wide band of repeating geometric elements. Fine sawn joints separate the elements, which are densely set with diamonds. A total of 23.75 ct of white diamonds bathe the pieces of jewellery in glistening reflections of light. The highlight is that the alternating basic geometric shapes along the center of the bracelet are formed by individual diamonds of the finest quality: A large marquise-cut diamond and two pear-cut diamonds form the showpiece, while alternating round old-cut diamonds and baguettes are set to the left and right. With only the tiniest to smallest inclusions, they refract the light brilliantly and fierily. From their quality to the execution of the metalwork and even the ornamented side gallery: every detail is exquisite and well thought out. We were able to discover the magnificent bracelet in Vienna. It will be delivered with an independent gemmological certificate.
