Louis XVI-style armchair – patinated wood with cane weaving (Cane / Canapé), France, 20th century This elegant French armchair immediately stands out for its timeless, oval backrest and gracefully shaped armrests. It is a beautiful example of furniture art in the Louis XVI style. The wooden frame is finished with a moody light gray/creme patina with a subtly weathered 'shabby chic' look, which nicely accentuates the carving and the history of the piece. The chair rests on gracefully fluted (grooved), tapering legs with floral motifs above the front legs, typical for this style. Both the seat and the backrest are fitted with a fine, classic cane weave (caning). At the underside, the piece bears an original stamp: "CICS - Made in France".
