LOT OF 3: US PRE-CIVIL WAR KNIGHT HEAD POMMEL MILITIA NCO SWORDS. Lot consists of: (A) Ca. 1840s militia NCO sword with a blade decorated for over half its length with etched patriotic and foliate motifs. Panoply of arms topped with a liberty cap at center of both sides. Blade is marked with the Gebruder Weyersberg mark on the obverse ricasso. The blade exhibits a gray patina with scattered blemishes throughout. Wide brass cross guard with knight head pommel. Hilt exhibits moderate patina. Fluted bone grip with patina. The sword is complete with its leather scabbard that features brass mounts. Body exhibits recoloring. Mounts exhibit patina and spotting. CONDITION: Good. (B) Ca. 1840s militia NCO sword with a blade decorated for over half its length with etched and frosted patriotic and foliate motifs. Panoply of arms topped with a liberty cap at center of both sides. Obverse side also features a federal eagle. No visible maker mark. The blade exhibits a gray patina with scattered blemishes throughout. Wide brass cross guard with knight head pommel. Hilt exhibits a dark patina Fluted bone grip with patina. The sword is complete with its leather scabbard that features tin mounts. Body exhibits cracking. Missing drag. Mount exhibits patina and finish loss. CONDITION: Fair. (C) Ca. 1840s naval NCO sword with a blade decorated for over half its length with patriotic and foliate motifs. Fouled anchor is at the center of the obverse side. Blade is marked HORSTMANN & SONS / PHILADELPHIA" on the reverse ricasso. The blade exhibits a gray patina with scattered blemishes throughout. Wide brass cross guard with patriotic shield languets and knight head pommel. Fluted bone grip with patina and a few hairlines. The sword is complete with its leather scabbard that features brass mounts. Body exhibits bend at center. Mounts exhibit patina and spotting. CONDITION: Good.
