Set of 20 stereoscopic photos on glass 6 x 13 cm – Laval (Mayenne) – 1934-1939 – Storage binder Remarkable ensemble of 20 original stereoscopic photographs on glass in the 6 x 13 cm format, dating from 1934 to 1939, kept in their original storage binder with the handwritten inventory sheet. This documentary series offers an exceptional historical and family testimony on the city of Laval and its surroundings during the 1930s. The shots cover architecture, heritage and daily life in Laval: The Laval Castle, the Old Bridge over the Mayenne and the Pont-Neuf. A view taken from the La Perrine park. The viaduct and the Quai Béatrix de Gavre. The Museum (1935) and the Basilica of Avesnières. A horse race (hippodrome). The lot also includes important scenes of local life, weather and interiors: The garden of 28 Quai Béatrix de Gavre, shot in season and in snow (winter 1934-1935). The impressive floods at the Viaduct and at the Clématites during the winter of 1935-1936. Intimate scenes such as Odette’s bedroom and an interior view. The Monument to the Dead and the Flame of Remembrance on November 11, 1938. Winter activities in December 1938: skiing at Tivoli near Laval, people playing boules (boulistes) on Quai Béatrix de Gavre, and a sunset on a snowy day from the bedroom. A shot dated February 1939 (La Sainte-Trinité). Special item in the lot: Among the glass plates is an original color plate showing the view of the flowering garden on Quai Béatrix de Gavre. It is a photo on flexible film glued to a glass plate.
