Beautiful vintage mechanical watch by LIP, probably from the 1950s. This piece stands out notably for its case diameter of 36 mm excluding the crown, a generous size for a men's watch of that period, when dress watches were generally smaller. This size is sometimes referred to as “Jumbo” in vintage LIP references from that era. The light dial features applied Arabic numerals, gold hands, and a small seconds at 6 o'clock. The case back bears the inscriptions “LIP”, “Antimagnetic” and “Stainless Steel Back”, as well as the number 720195. Manual-winding mechanical movement. The watch starts and runs, but a service is recommended: during my tests, it stopped after about three hours of operation. The condition of the movement’s interior has not been checked. A beautiful piece of vintage French watchmaking, with a wrist presence particularly interesting thanks to its 36 mm diameter. The dial shows a few small marks and traces related to age, preserving a patina consistent with its age. The currently mounted crystal is a replacement plexiglass and shows scratches as well as a slight play. The current strap is not original.
