graphite on paper, 76 x 56cm; framed 82.5 x 63cm, With The Redfern Gallery, London, where acquired by Doris Lockhart Saatchi, 9 March 2015 (purchase price £2,800); Property from the Collection of Doris Lockhart Saatchi. Pl, Please note this work is to be offered with no reserve. Linda Karshan is an artist known for her abstract drawings and prints, which are created through a highly physical and rhythmic process. Since developing her 'inner choreography' method in 1994, she has connected each mark to her breathing, movement, and sense of timing. This results in repeated lines, grids, geometric forms, and loose patterns. Her work is influenced by psychology and ideas about creativity, particularly the theories of D W Winnicott. Karshan studied at Skidmore College, the Sorbonne, and the Slade School of Art, later earning a master's degree in Humanistic Psychology. Her work has been, exhibited, internationally and is held in major collections including Tate Modern, the British Museum, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
