Limited Edition 4/30 Saint Patrick – Guardian of Faith –...

“Saint Patrick – Guardian of Faith” by Asteria is an intensely spiritual work dedicated to Saint Patrick, one of the most loved and symbolic figures of Christian tradition, revered as the evangelizer of Ireland and a spiritual guide capable of uniting faith, wisdom, and inner strength. The Saint is depicted at the center of the composition with a solemn and authoritative posture, clad in richly decorated episcopal vestments and crowned by the mitre, a sign of his dignity and pastoral mission. In his right hand he raises a shamrock, one of the most recognizable elements of his iconography, traditionally associated with preaching the Holy Trinity: three leaves joined in a single stalk, a simple yet powerful image of the threefold nature of God in a single essence. In the other hand he holds the pastoral staff, symbol of his task as guide and guardian of the Christian people. Saint Patrick’s face, intense and focused, communicates wisdom, firmness, and deep spiritual awareness. A luminous halo opens around his head, while the sky behind him, crossed by clouds and rays of light, enhances the sacred and visionary character of the scene. In the background there appears a small stone church and a tall tower, evocative references to the Irish land and to the long Christian tradition closely tied to the Saint. At the Saint’s feet lies a serpent, a symbolically potent detail that recalls the famous legend that Saint Patrick drove snakes out of Ireland. Beyond the legendary reading, this element eloquently represents the victory of faith over evil, over darkness, and over hostile forces to the light of the spirit. The contrast between the shamrock raised to the sky and the serpent relegated to the lower part of the composition strengthens the devotional reading of the work, transforming it into an image of protection, perseverance, and the triumph of good. Executed in a refined grayscale palette with deep sepia reflections, the work impresses with extraordinary detail and a finish reminiscent of an ancient devotional engraving. The light and shadow contrast shapes the face, drapery, pastoral staff, and landscape with great precision, endowing Saint Patrick’s figure with a monumental, intense, and timeless presence. The light filtering through the clouds directs the gaze toward the Saint, emphasizing his spiritual centrality and contemplative strength. “Saint Patrick – Guardian of Faith” is not merely a decoration, but a true devotional image, a visual presence capable of evoking faith, protection, and spiritual memory. It is a work designed for those who wish to introduce a symbol rich in meaning into their spaces, tied to tradition, to the evangelizing mission, and to the luminous strength of faith. In the bottom right corner there is an intense red wax seal, a distinctive detail that adds personality to the work and creates a refined chromatic contrast with the sober tones of the composition. This element further embellishes the piece, giving it a recognizable, intimate, and sophisticated character. - Composition: 55% PU (Polyurethane), 20% Polyester, 5% Cotton, 20% Real Leather Fibers - Materials compliant with REACH regulations, environmentally friendly and free of harmful substances - Unframed work - Packaging and shipping: the work will be shipped rolled on a rigid cardboard support to ensure maximum protection.
