LIEUTENANT-COLONEL CHARLES RAMUS FORREST (BRITISH CIRCA 1750-1827) VIEWS IN INDIA NO.10, BRIDGE OF OUDANULLAH, BENGAL Pencil and watercolour Inscribed with title and dated '1807' (verso) 28.5 x 45cm (11 x 17½in.) Lt Colonel Charles Rasmus Forrest (circa 1750 – 1827) was an amateur artist who also served in the British (East India) army from 1802-1827. Based in Calcutta, whenever his regiment was sent upcountry, he would make excursions from the camp on horseback, palanquin or boat, to capture unfamiliar vegetation, animals, palaces, forts, temples and other landscapes through sketching and watercolours. He was also based for a time in Canada and produced a number of views of Quebec.
