refined and elegant pair of small ornamental vases with lid covers (or covered baluster urns on a pedestal) made in Sèvres-style porcelain. Each vase features a magnificent celestial blue background enhanced by rich gilt accents/gold motifs. The main faces are adorned with oval gold-rimmed medallions containing portraits of ladies of the XVIIIth-century court, one of which bears the handwritten inscription "Marie-Antoinette". The reverse also presents a painted reserve with floral motifs and gilding. The gilding and colors remain very bright. The lids are complete and in good condition. Slight signs of use, minimal and normal age patina under the base.
