Leopoldo Metlicovitz - 1914 Originale Compagnia Giulio...

Rare original chromolithographic plate from the famous portfolio “Gli Avvisi delle Officine G. Ricordi & C.”, published in Milan around 1914 (Original - NO copies - NO reproductions) The chromolithography by Metlicovitz reproduces in a reduced format the magnificent theatrical poster dedicated to the Company of Comic Operas and Operettas directed by Cavaliere Giulio Marchetti. The work, characterized by the elegant female figure in a green dress, is signed by Leopoldo Metlicovitz, one of the most important Italian masters of posters and the Liberty style. This plate comes directly from the complete album of the 70 plates of the Avvisi Ricordi, an extremely rare collection that gathered the best advertising creations printed by Officine Ricordi between 1895 and 1914. The portfolio included works by the leading poster artists of the time, including Metlicovitz, Dudovich, Hohenstein, Cappiello, Laskoff, Mazza and Beltrame. In the listing there is also a photograph of the album folder of the 70 plates, documenting provenance. The auction concerns exclusively the single chromolithograph presented here; the album and the remaining plates are not included. Printed by Officine G. Ricordi & C. of Milan on thick paper, it preserves vivid colors and wide original margins. A specimen of great charm and collecting interest, ideal for collectors of advertising graphics, Italian theater, Liberty and Ricordi posters. Conditions as shown in the photographs, with normal and slight signs of aging. !!! Add me to your favorite sellers to discover new arrivals and go see my other items in auction !!!
