Léa Vanderstraeten (1929) - Vue sur la Rivière

Spectacular and luminous vintage-era oil on canvas by the famous Belgian painter Léa Vanderstraeten (born 1929), a major figure listed in the pictorial tradition of Laethem-Saint-Martin. This masterwork perfectly illustrates the artist's Flemish neo-expressionist style, characterized by a knife- and brush-stroke with a highly textured, robust surface. The composition depicts a river landscape typical of the Flemish plains at dusk. A saffron-yellow setting sun breaks through storm clouds, creating a mirror of intense golden reflections on the water. • Artist: Léa Vanderstraeten (1929) • Technique: Original oil on canvas in strong relief (impasto) • Signature: Originally signed by the artist at the bottom right ("Lea Vanderstraeten"). • Canvas dimensions: 50 x 60 cm (Framed: No, unframed) • Frame: Important classical carved wooden frame with a wide gold leaf border included in the lot. • Provenance: Certified by its official original art exhibition sticker affixed to the back of the canvas ("Gaverprijs Schilderkunst"). • Condition: Excellent conservation state. The canvas is sound, the paint layer is absolutely fresh, dense, and with no loss or restoration."
