Entourage rings are a classic in the history of jewellery. Especially in the 1960s and 1970s, many of these elegant rings were created primarily as engagement rings. Sparkling diamonds always surround a large coloured stone, usually a sapphire, and almost always the stones were set in white gold in those years, because this allows the light of the diamonds and the color of the sapphires to appear unadulterated and at the same time completely withdraws. So, as similar as many of these rings are: All the more worthwhile to pay attention to the subtle differences that distinguish each Entourage ring from all others and thus make it an individual! The ring we have here is a fine example of this. Because a close look shows that the goldsmith combined the modern form with a reference to history. The precious, sparkling diamonds surrounding the large, sky-blue sapphire are far older than the ring itself: They were faceted, as their cuts show, as early as the mid-19th century, more than 100 years before the ring was created. So in the 1970s, the old European diamonds experienced a new life. Perhaps they came from family property and now came to an engagement to new use? The sapphire, on the other hand, was certainly first used in a piece of jewellery at this time. It has a beautiful, even colour and a very symmetrical cut. Inside it can be discovered some inclusions that tell about the life of the stone inside the earth. We discovered the large and precious ring in Vienna. Its hallmarks reveal that it was made in Italy. An independent expert opinion on the quality of the materials is enclosed with the ring.
