This is SMWS Cask No. 111.1, the first cask of Lagavulin ever bottled by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. The whisky was distilled in March 1980 and bottled in September 1995, making it 15 years old. It was bottled at an impressive 63.3% ABV / 110.7 UK proof and presented at natural cask strength. The release is particularly sought after by collectors because 111 is the SMWS code for Lagavulin, and 111.1 represents the first cask from the distillery released by the Society.
