Painted circa 1930 Provenance: Lord Ivor Spencer-Churchill (1898-1956) And by family descent Formerly in the collection of Lord Ivor Churchill, this painting (and lot 51) belongs to a period shaped by Maze's close contact with artists including Édouard Vuillard and Paul Signac. The harbour provides a framework for exploring shifting coastal light; colour changes across water, sky and boats, while quays, masts, trees and architecture gives the composition a strong underlying structure. Condition Report: The work was not examined out of its frame. There is no evidence of any retouching under UV examination. There is some very slight surface dirt, otherwise the work appears to be in good condition.
