For sale is a charming testimony to 18th-century French painting. The work is attributed to the historically documented, but extremely rare painter L. Griosel (French School / École Française). The attribution was made by the French art expert Mme. Chantal Mauduit. The restrained, chalky coloration and the atmospheric haze of the background enhance the dreamlike character of the intimate, peaceful scene. Painters like Griosel perfectly captured the elegant and playful spirit of French Rococo and late Baroque. Since this era is mainly represented by the great masters of the Parisian academies, well-preserved works by rarer names such as L.
