Kudditji Kngwarreye (1928-2017) - My country

Considered one of the major figures of contemporary Aboriginal art from the Central Desert, Kudditji Kngwarreye (1928-2017) delivers in this work the essence of his mature painting. Originating from Alhalkere in the Utopia community and guardian of the Anmatyerre men’s ceremonial sites, Emily Kame Kngwarreye’s younger brother makes, in the early 2000s, a decisive aesthetic turning point. Working by layering generous blocks of color and by blends of “fresh on fresh” material, the artist creates geometric architectures with a marked texture and intense chromatic depth. This broad brush technique, where the relief of the underlying paint makes the soft-edged borders of the surface vibrate, has led his style to be frequently compared to Abstract Expressionist masters such as Mark Rothko. Benefiting from constant international notoriety with numerous solo exhibitions and a presence at the AIAM100 global ranking of the Australian Indigenous Art Market, Kudditji breaks away from conventions to offer a representation that is at once physical and spiritual of his country (My Country). Executed in acrylic on canvas [insert year], this piece measuring [insert dimensions, e.g., 120 x 90 cm] masterfully illustrates the discipline of a sovereign masculine aesthetics. Kept in very good condition, this signed work benefits from impeccable traceability and authenticity: it is accompanied by its official certificate of authenticity as well as several photographs documenting the artist beside the canvas, including the precise moment of his signature. Shipping is particularly careful and secure, or the possibility of hand delivery.
