Kristall (Кристалл) 35mm SLR (KMZ

Rare Kristall (Кристалл) SLR 35mm – Artistic reinterpretation and custom design inspired by Soviet / Constructivist aesthetics. Up for auction is a singular and fascinating 35mm SLR Kristall (Кристалл), produced in the Soviet Union by the famous KMZ (Krasnogorsk) factory between 1961 and 1962. The Kristall represents the essential link and direct progenitor of the legendary Zenit 3M series, characterized by the classic die-cast aluminum body with a hammered orange-skin finish and M39 screw mount. This unique specimen has undergone a careful design study aimed at celebrating and highlighting the machine's original production era. Among various graphic options, an iconic pattern was selected that evokes industrial art, Socialist Realism, and the avant-garde Soviet graphics of the 1950s and 1960s (gears, symbols of labor, industrial architectures, and doves of peace). Technical material innovation: The old leatherette, often deteriorated over time, has been replaced with a coating in modern high-performance technical material. Durability and Ergonomics: The new coating provides a firm grip and high resistance to daily wear, tactile feel, sweat, and oily solutions, giving the camera body a unique appearance and making it pleasant and ready for use again. Technical specifications: Brand/Model: KMZ Kristall (Кристалл) Serial Number: No. 62002100 (Year of production 1962) Type: 35mm single-lens reflex camera (SLR) Lens mount: M39 x 1 (reflex screw thread / Zenit register) Shutter: focal-plane shutter with speeds from 1/30s to 1/500s + B exposure Top rapid-load lever with front mechanical self-timer Excellent condition, aesthetic state with the custom finish applied precisely.
