Handmade model ship Duyfken – VOC – approx. 800 work hours For sale: a very detailed, fully handmade model of the Duyfken, the famous Dutch VOC ship from the early 17th century. About 820 hours have been spent on this model ship. That is evident in the enormous amount of detail: the wooden hull, rigging, masts, sails, ropes, cannons, railings, ornaments and flags are all carefully worked out. The ship is not comparable to a standard decorative model, but is truly a remarkable piece of artisanal model-making. The Duyfken originally sailed for the VOC and is historically known for reaching the Australian coast in 1606 under the command of Willem Janszoon. The model is in perfect condition and is supplied including the wooden stand as shown in the photos. Duyfken was one of the first Dutch ships to reach Australia.
