The collation and date are confirmed by a bibliographed copy of the same issue. A particularly rich issue of this travel and exploration magazine, featuring, among others: Paluel-Marmont, “At the South Pole”; Lucien Marcellin, “The Mysterious Life of Sharks”; Louis Michel, “The Waters of the Manangareza”; Paule Bernard and Dominique Darbois, “Bali”; Marcel Cognac, “Brazilian Wanderings”; Henri-Paul Eydoux, “A Small American Town”; Gaston Rébuffat, “The Star-Spangled Cloak”; Jean Dieterlen, “I Am a Doctor Among the Tuareg.” The booklet is of considerable documentary interest, particularly due to the articles on Bali, Brazil, Antarctica, and the Tuareg. The article on Bali is by Dominique Darbois, a French photographer and avid traveler whose ethnographic and photographic works are highly sought after today. As is often the case in *Connaissance du Monde*, the advertising pages also offer an interesting visual record of the 1950s. The back cover, which is particularly well-designed, features a full-color advertisement for the Indian National Tourist Office, with views of Khajuraho, Sarnath, and Amritsar. There is also an Air France advertisement inside. A complete copy, though showing signs of wear. The cover is yellowed, scuffed, and stained, with wear along the edges, creases, small tears, and a fragile spine. The paper is uniformly yellowed; there are a few smudges. An old handwritten note on an advertising page. The interior is nevertheless clearly legible, and the illustrations are well preserved.
